  1. Just finished ‘This magnificent desolation.’ loved it, sorry when I came to the end of it, tried to slow down toward the end but couldn’t , …. beautiful writing

  2. dear judie,
thank you so much for your kind words….it was hard to leave those characters behind. we may yet see Duncan again!

    • Just finished your beautiful novel at half-past midnight and felt such melancholy at leaving Duncan riding that train. Now that I’ve read your comment that “we may yet see Duncan again” I shall rest easy and patiently wait for another glimpse into the creative genius that is Thomas O’Malley. (My great-grandfather was a Thomas O’Malley, immigrated from Westport to Chicago in 1901.)

      • Dear Susan,
Thank you. This brings a smile to my face. So nice to know I share the same name as your great-grandfather, no doubt a proud Mayo man.
        All my best,

  3. I don’t think any one book has ever left such a mark on me. I think of this magnificent desolation so often it is unusual. thank you for your incredible beautiful novel.
